Saw this poor stanced Type-R on the way to work in traffic this morning. Now I know what it feels like when doves cry.

Really? It looks fine to be. Heck it looks well done on the grand scale of things. Those things being slammed tuner cars.

Guess everyone else is fine with about -10 degrees of camber on the rear wheels on one of the best handling FWD cars ever made...

Carry on.

Negative, 4 years of Type R glory in the USDM - all under the Acura badge. 97-98 and 00-01. White and black, then black and yellow.

We got E30 M3s too. I dont think they made that many Type R’s regardless of their availability in the states.

They brought ~1k over each year, pretty close to 500 of each color per year*. They have a hand built engine, compared to the GSR’s assembled on the line, with beefier suspension components and axles, a factory drop, a full stainless exhaust (though all the Acuras did), and a lot of sound deadening removed at the factory. The chassis and suspension were designed for each other and tuned by Honda’s race program. They are the closest we came, as a generation, to seeing a true homologation model being offered in our country on the relative cheap.

The thing revs to 8 or 9k rpm and pulls like a freight train once Vtec kicks in @ ~5800. If you have a chance to drive one, they are truly special feeling.

*I’m too lazy to look up the exact numbers, feel free to correct me.

That sounds sweet as hell but these inflated prices just aren’t worth it. I’m going to get a Celica GT-S one day. It will be like 90% of the ITR for reasonable price.

To keep with the Celica analogy, if the Integra GSR is the Celica GT-S, they Type-R would be a FWD All-Trac. :)

Kinja'd!!! Bytemite > 'Wägen, EPA LOL

Kinja'd!!!0

Not really, since the GT-S is better than any All-Trac or the GSR in all performance. It is more like in between the GSR and the Type-R.

Most publications of that era put the GT-S a notch below the RSX-S which would have been a reincarnation of the GSR to a lesser extent. It was built on the same chassis as the DC5 Integra, like how the original GSR was on the DC2 chassis.

Celica ST 185 GT-Four/All Trac made 200hp. (5th Gen)

Celica ST 205 GT-Four/All Trac made 242 hp. (6th Gen)

Celica GT-S made 185 hp. (7th/Final Gen)

Standard Celica made 140 hp

Integra GSR made 178 hp.

Integra Type R made 197 hp.

RSX-S made 200 hp.

Standard RSX made 160 hp.

Yeah the RSX-s was the main competition for the GT-S. Cant go wrong with either. Honestly, I value handling way more than power so I’d pick the best handler. The GT-S Celica beats the RSX-S in handling and could beat the Type R too. In a perfect world Id have type R, but ill take the GT-S for world beater FWD handling at a fraction of Type R price.

This is one of the funniest and most jaded things I’ve read in a long time. The Integra Type R is the gold standard in FWD handling. Hell, many magazines still have it ranked as one of the best handling cars of all time.

In an autocross world dominated by powerful AWD and RWD cars, the Type R took first in nationals in STX a few years back.

I’m sorry (not really), but you’re absolutely kidding yourself by saying the Celica is even in a league below the Type R Integra.
